Alex De Minaur beat Hubert Hurkacz in the semifinal of the China Open in Beijing 6-4, 3-2 to reach the final. The match result is reported by api.tennis.

Won set and the advantage in the second

The opening set went to De Minaur. He also had the edge in games in the second set, but the match did not go all the way through to completion: Hurkacz retired.

De Minaur’s run to the semifinal included a win over Mariano Navone (7-6, 6-2) and two matches in which he had to come back after losing the opening set. In the round of 16, he defeated Quentin Halys 3-6, 7-6, 7-5, and in the quarterfinal he beat Andrey Rublev: 1-6, 6-2, 6-3.

Hurkacz began the tournament with a win over Learner Tien: 5-7, 6-3, 6-4. He then beat Arthur Cazaux 7-6, 6-7, 6-2, and in the quarterfinal he got past Karen Khachanov: 7-6, 6-2. After two three-set matches to start, he completed the quarterfinal without dropping a set.
