Thirteenth seed Jakub Mensik defeated 21st seed Francisco Cerundolo 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 in the round of 32 at the Rolex Shanghai Masters. The win sent the Czech through to the next round of the ATP Masters 1000 event, which is being played on hard courts in Shanghai. The tournament has a prize fund of $11.2 million. How the match unfolded

Mensik won the first set 6-3 to take the lead. In the second set, Cerundolo responded with the same scoreline, 6-3 in his favor, to level the match at one set apiece. Everything was decided in the third set, where Mensik won 6-2 to close out the match 2-1.

Mensik's run in Shanghai so far consists of two wins. In the round of 64, he beat Miomir Kecmanovic 6-3, 6-3, before going on to defeat Cerundolo in three sets. The Argentine opened the tournament with a 7-6, 6-3 win over Roman Safiullin, and that is where his singles campaign came to an end.
