Casper Ruud of Norway defeated China's Yunchaokete Bu in the round of 64 at the Rolex Shanghai Masters, winning 6-1, 7-6 to reach the round of 32. The two sets followed very different scripts. Ruud took the first comfortably, allowing his opponent just one game. In the second, Yunchaokete Bu put up a much tougher fight, and the set went all the way to a tiebreak. There, Ruud closed out the victory, avoiding the need for a third set.
