Jasmine Paolini beat Nikola Bartunkova 7-6(5), 6-3 in the round of 32 at the WTA 1000 tournament in Wuhan to advance to the next round.
From tiebreak to victory
The players took the opening set to a tiebreak. Paolini won that stretch to take the lead in sets.
There was no need for a tiebreak in the second set. Paolini claimed the set and wrapped up the match, not allowing Bartunkova to force a deciding set.
According to api.tennis, Paolini beat Sara Bejlek 6-3, 6-4 in the previous round. She has not dropped a set on her way to the next round. Bartunkova began her campaign in Wuhan with a 7-6(4), 2-6, 6-1 win over Lilli Tagger.
